The Warren is the only youth facility in Hatch Warren & Beggarwood. We engage with young people in year 6 and upwards in the community, giving them a secure base to come and spend time with their friends. The Warren is run by the Hatch Warren Community Association and has a team of dedicated Youth Workers, led by Emily Joseph our Youth Manager. Emily is based in the office every Tuesday, working tirelessly in session planning and obtaining the grant funding we need to continue to operate The Warren.

We encourage young people of all abilities to get involved in our activities which include; sport, craft and technology. We challenge our young people to do their best and work as a team. Our feedback demonstrates that our young people gain a greater sense of purpose, try new things and gain skills from their time spent at the Warren.

There is a huge range of activities including a Pool Table, Wii, PS4, Table Tennis and an Air Hockey Table. We often use the playing fields and MUGA (multi use games area) and we regularly invite external companies into the Warren to increase our service offerings.

SESSIONS - RUN EVERY FRIDAY NIGHT

6pm till 7.45pm - Youth Club Activities - School Years 6-8

Open for young people in Year 6 to Year 8. Sessions are currently FREE and we run craft activities every week as well as providing hot and cold food options and tuck. Our detailed programme of activities can be found on our Facebook page and we welcome feedback and suggestions from our members on session ideas and plans. Members can come and hang out with their friends or join in with organised activities. Year 5 young people can join in with activities at Summer Streetz the summer before they start Year 6.

Every child must have a completed health & safety form which they should bring with them on their first session. Click here for the form.  If the young people go out onto the field or the Multi Use Games Area Courts, they must sign out and THEN OUR DUTY OF CARE STOPS.  Young people are free to sign in & out as they choose.

8pm till 9.30pm - Open Access & Health Hub - Age 13+

Open for our 13+ age group. This session is FREE and is more of a laidback atmosphere for our older members. Come and hang out with your friends or if you need some help and advice on Healthy Eating, Careers, Bullying, Drink/Drugs, Relationships or any other concerns or you might have; our qualified staff are there to help you, and to get you the help you need. Tuck and some hot food options will also be available to purchase.

HEALTH HUB INFORMATION

All of our Staff have undertaken a number of training courses to provide help and to advise on a number of issues including; self-harm, alcohol and drug use, bullying, social media concerns and general health and well-being. We have links with a number of other Basingstoke based services where we can refer to for onward support if required.

In addition, working in conjunction with BDBC and Solent Health we are now able to provide Pregnancy Screening, and can provide Condoms within Fraser Guidelines.

We take confidentiality seriously and we have a duty to keep information we receive confidential. However, if we are worried about your safety and think you might be in serious danger we may need to discuss this with another professional. We would always try to tell you before we share information, if it is safe for us to do so.

FUNDRAISING

Fundraising is key to keeping the Warren open and providing the wide range of activities and facilities within the Warren. We regularly engage in bag packing, raffles and fundraising activities with our younger members but we also rely on grant funding and generous donations from our community members. In the past 12 months we have raised over £1500 with our young people and we have been able to refurbish the kitchen. Our next plan is to upgrade the patio area with security lighting, heating and new furniture.

VOLUNTEERS

We have a number of volunteer helpers but we always welcome more! All volunteers are subject to DBS check and training. We also accept young people on the Duke of Edinburgh scheme so please give us a call to discuss.
