Café-in-the-Park's Birthday Bash

Updated: Feb 27

February 19th was a special day at Beggarwood Community Centre as Café-in-the-Park celebrated its seventh anniversary! Over the years, the café has become a much-loved hub for the local community, offering great coffee, friendly faces, and a well-earned reputation for serving the best homemade cake in the area. Naturally, a milestone like this called for a special birthday cake—baked just for the occasion.

Adding to the celebrations, we were delighted to welcome the Mayor of Basingstoke and Deane, Cllr. Dan Putty, who had the honour of cutting the cake and marking the occasion. Visitors also got creative, painting "Basingstones", which have been hidden around Beggarwood Park for the community to find.

Clare Pearce, Executive Officer of the Community Association, shared her pride in how far the café has come: “We’re thrilled to see how well the Centre has established itself at the heart of the community. Sophie Howland, who manages the café, and her team have worked so hard to create such a welcoming space—it’s wonderful to take a moment to celebrate their success.”

Beyond the café, Beggarwood Community Centre is home to a thriving range of activities, from Jiggy Wrigglers and Beggarwood Bookworms to our ever-popular Quiz Nights. We're also seeing growing demand for hall hire, making Beggarwood the go-to venue for parties and community events.

Here’s to many more years of coffee, cake, and community at Café-in-the-Park! 🎉☕🎂
